4-H has a long history of innovation and community impact. Beginning in 1902 with the 4-H Corn Club, all the way up to present-day robotics clubs, 4-H'ers have stepped up to tackle challenges ranging from food security and environmental issues to bullying and emergency preparedness -- and 4-H'ers have succeeded!
Current research indicates that 4-H'ers are better equipped to contribute and lead, as compared to their peers.* Results show that youth in 4-H:
- Are more civically active and make more civic contributions to their communities,
- Report better grades and are two times more likely to plan to go to college,
- Are shown to have significantly lower drug, alcohol and cigarette use than their peers.
